Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that India’s ‘unofficial’ blockade on Nepal will end only after an agreement is reached between the government and the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) to resolve the dispute over state delineation within three months. Dahal, who is also the chief of the High Level Political Mechanism, He was speaking at a tea reception for journalists at party headquarters Paris Danda. “As per the briefing made by Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa, an understanding was reached with India to address the Madhesi issue through the constitutional amendment and solving the state delineation within three months,” he said. “Although we’ve gone ahead with the amendment, issue of state delineation is still not finalized. So I don’t feel that blockade will end soon just because we’ve amended the constitution.” He expressed hope that the blockade could end if the top three parties and the UDMF forge consensus on state delineation in the meeting scheduled for 4 pm today.
