The Maldives in the ongoing Bangabandhu Gold Cup on Tuesday, declared Nepal national football coach Balgopal Maharjan.Runners up of Group A, Nepal has maintained a perfect shield to their goal and not lost a single match throughout the tournament so far. They drew the matches against Felda United and Bangladesh’s senior team 0 – 0, and won against Sri Lanka 1 – 0.Coach Maharjan commended his team’s performances in the group stage, but declared they need to up their game for the semi-final.”We have scored just a goal and we have to improve our front line. We have to win at any cost, draw is not enough,” he said.

Commenting on the Maldives team, the coach said, “Maldives are a good team. They have good technical players. The match is 50-50. We can’t really predict the result before the match. Anything can happen in football.”Maharjan went on to remark on the Maldives’ improving techniques and skills over the years.
“We used to dominate them (Maldives) 10-15 years before but now they have improved a lot. They really concentrate on developing the game. Their league structure is good.”The first semi-final with Bahrain versus hosts Bangladesh’s senior team begins Monday at 4:30 p.m. local time. The second semi with Maldives versus Nepal begins Tuesday evening 4:30 p.m. local time.
